Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

I've posted "wanted" ads for a tame lizard (tegu, iguana, monitor, etc.), and i've had a couple people contact me, but after reading some of the stuff that goes on I really don't know if it's the best thing to do. I've heard good things about Neil (in tampa), and --something International, Prehistoric pets, and a couple others, but I haven't really found anything I like with these people (Your animals are wonderful, but i'm picky, and looking for something specifically), and when I do find something that interests me, I usually don't have the money at the time, and never see the post that I was interested in again.
Just curious if anyone could RECOMMEND breeders for someone who specifically breeds these lizards (Tegu's, Monitor's, or Iguana's)?
Thank you!

First off you need to post your full name otherwise your post will be deleted. Second, there are many reputable and reliable dealers out there, and the ones that are dishonest and commit these terrible acts are the few and not the majority.

Your going to hear about the scammers and rip off artists more than your going to hear about the good dealings (just human nature to talk about the bad things and not the good things). There are a lot of individuals and companies that finish many deals daily with no issue. Just not a lot of interest in "I sent them money, they sent me a reptile, good job"

Is this a troll, sure sounds like one. Rings familiar bells and whistles but I'll bite anyhow.
Once you find someone you tare thinking of as a prospective seller, run his/her name through the BOI on this site with a good guy / bad guy type inquiry. That way you will get some feedback if the person was ever heard of by people using this site. Why take chances.
As for the names you mentioned in your post, this General Business Discussions forum is not the place to give feedback about them.

Wow, how rude. Pre-judging someone new. How typical.
I'm NOT posting my full name on a board. I'm young, and god knows what's lurking on this board.
I'll just wait for this post to get deleted.
Thank you to those who offered helpful advice. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' '>

Don't take what Glenn or anyone else says personal. spam_We here on the BOI (myself included) feel very strongly an compassionately towards protecting others and the animals from wrong doings. spam_He and I have had many words back and forth but Glenn is still one of the good guys around here.

However Rob is wrong in one instance, full names are only required for posting on the BIO portion of this web link. spam_But it is a common courtesy to place a name to a post. It does help weed out the TROLLS that have been eluded to in this thread. spam_To many times before has a thread just like this one and just as anonymous been found out to be just a TROLL looking to stir a turd. spam_
Welcomed to the Fauna Classifieds.

Has this been a rough couple of weeks for the BOI or what?<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
It's been a little crazy on there and pretty negative. spam_I can understand it turning people off, but it is a great protection when buying over the internet. spam_
When you do find what you want, you do a search for other people with experiences with this person.
And yes, "bad" gets posted a lot more than "good"--or at least gets more attention.
As for finding a "tame" iguana, monitor, or tegu--it's not easy through a dealer--most already "tame" lizards of those species are spoiled pets--they tend not be "tame" on their own.
Maybe try getting a baby ackie monitor, or if you want something big, try a baby ARGENTINE tegu, and raise them up to know you. spam_Those would be your best bets. spam_Or if you have a particular species in mind, just get it young and expect to have to work with it a lot to tame it down.
There are lots of good ackie breeders, and two very well know argentine tegu breeders that would work for you if you are interested.
good luck

That's actually what i'm leaning more towards, a Argentine tegu, not the columbian (I hear the Argentines have better temperments.) What two breeders could you refer me to?
By the way, I wasn't posting a "thread" about a specific person, I was merely trying to see if anyone had any knowledge of good breeders in the species i'm interested in. I added the extra "Wow, reading all these "Rip-off", and "Fraud"... " stuff so that my message would be clearly understandable. Nobody wants to get ripped off, obviously, so I guess it's pretty much hit and miss?
Hopefully i'll run across some good luck.
Thanks for the input. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' '>
By the way--Lovely pic of the tegu!

Kitten.... (if that IS your real name?) lmao.... I think you're going about this the wrong way.... just because someone bred the baby in question, doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be tame??? As an example.... 3 years ago, two guys came in to my store with three (1.2) of the most immaciated, dehydrated, skin-sored, juvenile Iguanas you'll ever want to see! They were mean and nasty, they would swat their tails at anything that came near them.... one of the females looked like it wouldn't make it through the night.... luckily, I have a very large screen enclosure in the store that happened to be empty at the time.... I put them all in there and slowly started to get them back to health.... if you came in and saw them today.... you'd be amazed! They're about 5' long....they're fat, healthy and VERY TAME!! I names them.... "Sydney and his Ho's!! lol.... I can hold each one of them with no problems whatsoever! Except for the fact that they weigh about 10 pounds each!
The point of this, is that you can buy ANY baby of whatever species you want.... even if it's killer-mean and nasty.... ALL snakes and lizards are like WOMEN!!! The more you hold them, the more you interact with them, the NICER they are!! (Go ahead, Kim.... tell me I'm wrong! I dare you!! lmao).... get what you want, don't worry about it being tame and friendly the day you get it.... after a while, when the animal sees that it can't hurt you, and you won't hurt it.... your problems are over! Understand??? And.... if you don't know the animal.... KNOW THE DEALER!!
....Neil
