Bug eyes?

Does anyone know if bug eyes, like in Leucistic Texas Rats, is a recessive gene or an inheritable trait?

I wouldn't call it a trait, though the term is not technically incorrect...it's a defect. (Often the result of extensive inbreeding)

Yeah, trait is definitely not a good word to describe it. lol Have you ever seen or heard of this occurring in non Leucistic snakes?

I've seen it in a variety of snakes, to varying degrees.
To bring it back to your original phrasing, I do think that most cases I've seen were associated with recessive traits (is that what you were asking?); though I can't say, offhand, that only homozygous offspring were bugeyed.

I'm mostly wondering if its only seen in leucistic snakes. That's interesting you've seen it in other snakes as well.
