Egg Question????

I have a clutch of eggs that are close to the sixty day mark.
four or 5 days ago some of the eggs started to dent . I thought when they start denting typically they would hatch 24-48 hrs later. Should I assume the eggs are bad?

Thanks,
Bill

I wouldn't make that assumption, though it is a possibility. Denting typically occurs anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks before hatching...it can occur earlier, if conditions are on the dry side. Incubation time depends on a couple of factors, but my bull eggs typically (and consistently) run 70-72 days

ok, thanks.. that gives me some hope that they could still hatch out in a few weeks.

Thanks Again,

update

Well, all 16 hatched out, nice selection of Morphs.. I guess the denting of the eggs 3-4 weeks before hatching did not mean much..

Thanks,
Bill

I'm sure it seems like longer, but it has only been about two weeks (it was 10 days ago that you posted that they had dented 4-5 days prior). Glad to hear you got a bunch of happy, hissing hatchlings. What morphs did you end up with? (got pics?)

gophers

Hello,
your right it was only 10 days but that does seem like a long time to have the eggs denting. I ended up with a 5 Ghosts, 1 Blizzard, 6 Sunglows, 4 Hypos
All babies are easy going, no hissing..(for now)..

That'll start in a day or so, lol. You may get a couple that stay calm.

Blizzard and sunglow? I'm not familiar with those...bull or gopher? and what makes them?

Gophers

I bred a Hypo Male and Hypo Female Sonoran Gopher, both het Blizzard.
They are Envy Stock..The adults were very calm as babies and stayed that way, the babies from last yr were pretty calm also.

thought you might have been talking gophers, from the morphs you mentioned.
I'll bow out now since I've never kept more than a random hatchling when we had the shop - none in my personal collection
