On March 9, 2002, approxiamtely 4:15-4:30 pm at the New Mexico Reptile Expo I watched in total shock as the vendor for LLL Reptile (Loren) proceeded to pop 2 young GTP (green tree pythons). spam_A potential customer was looking at them and apparently had asked what sex they were. spam_The animals were approximately 14-16 inches, Aru Type, marketed at $399.99. spam_Through reading and talking with breeders, popping is fairly frowned upon in sexing young GTPs. spam_The potential of damaging tail vertebrae and the hemipenes are at risk. spam_Thus rendering the animal(s) non-reproductive. spam_I am just posting this as a warning to those who may purchase GTPs from LLL. spam_I would inquire how the animal was sexed and at what age.

A green tree python shouldn't be sexed before 1 year of age.  I don't know about making it not able to reproduce, but I do know that they have a high risk of damaging their vertebrae.

It also increases the chances of prolapse, common among young gtp's.

Hi Corey - I have purchased from LLL at my shows several times and have heard nothing but good things about them and their reputation.
Have you tried contacting them?  Sometimes things do slip through the cracks.  I am sure they will make it right.  If you need their number, let me know.

I have. They dont care.

I recommend people just buy from breeders, and not flesh peddlers.

I think that you guys in the past few posts need to give some more info about what happened other than "they owe me this" or "dont buy this"--that's not really giving enough details for a fair judgement.

Also, someone should contact them about the snake sexing bit--letting them know what they are doing wrong will do a lot more good than just getting people not to buy GTPs from them.

As for breeders vs dealers, you can buy from breeders or you can buy from dealers--there are good and bad in each of those catagories--just because you are a breeder doesnt mean your ethics are any better than some of the worst dealers and just because you are a dealer doesnt mean you should be condemned.

I purchased 2 incubators. 1 came missing parts, 1 came with a broken piece of foam. I was told they would send me replacements, i never recieved them. I called yet again and got hung up on. Obviously they dont care. This isnt an attack, I am just stating the fact. I know have my incubators shipped from the place that makes them.
