Question basilisks, sailfins...

Are these related somehow? Just curious... thanks.

Only in that they are both lizards (order Squamata). They are from different parts of the world and belong to different families.

lol, thanks. Just wondering... There is a reptile store near us and my husband asked the owner if they had any sailfins. The owner said yeah, they had some basilisks...

the sailfins are from near Indonesia (I don't recall specifically where offhand), and I'm pretty sure they are agamids. Basilisks are from Central or South America. I'm not going to let my curiosity become aroused enough to look ('cuz I really like the sailfins, but have no room to house them properly). Basilisks are MUCH more common in the pet trade, but you can occasionally come across sailfins...as a matter of fact, I think I remember seeing them advertised somewhere recently
