Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

The Welcome Room & New Member Intros How about a place for new members to come on in, make an introduction, and meet the regulars? Talk about yourself or anything else that comes to mind, just to break the ice. Or just pull up a chair and make yourself at home for a spell. |

dumb guy from ohio
My name is David Sagan and I had to surrender my bigger snakes to tho State of Ohio or they would hve been seized and I would be criminaly charged. I completly misunderstood the process to keep my animals leagly and I thought I was in compliance, but I was not. I am trying to get my animals back or I am trying to forgive myself and move one, but it is so hard for me right now.

Hi John,
Your not dumb, at least in my humble opinion. The laws that where put in place in Ohio where almost impossible to follow and that was done on purpose, again, that is my humble opinion.
Please try and forgive yourself. You did the best you could. Hope you stick around Fauna.

I know I am not dumb, but boy do I feel dumb. I just wanted to be up front and honest with everyone, and with social media the whole world of everyone I have ever known or met has heard of my situation.

This is a very sad story. It reminds me of an educator here in Illinois who had to give up an alligator he'd had for decades when the state declined to renew his license. It's very sad that the good, responsible folks are punished for the actions of the irresponsible.

Is anyone else in Ohio that has had large constrictors surrendered or removed? I lost. my life, liberty, and my pursuit of happiness due to a misunderstanding in the forms.

I know Dave and he is anyhting but dumb- he was one of my daughter's college instructors and we currently own Tigger,a Tiger Reticulated Pyhton that we picked up from him on the day my daughter graduated (most kids come home from college with a mini fridge or a futon. Not mine). He is a victim of circumstances here. It seems higher profile individuals are at more risk from the state.
As a permit holder myself, the state has been very obtuse in making the requirements of the law known. My attorneys and i have had to correct their own attorneys on several incorrect web postings and points of law in their application process.
In fact, the initial snake caging requirements were legally unenforceable as they were ZAA standards, which are "suggested minimums." It took the state a year to negotiate with owners and come up with enforceable standards that could be achieved.
Still a heinous law.

It is unfortunate but our goverment is now modeled after the Old Testament Gods, lots of rules and no mercy.
