Oregon FWS: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/

County laws may differ, as well as localities, but here is the state law:

http://www.leg.state.or.us/ors/609.html (Goto section 609.205)

Basically they define exotic animals as:

609.305 Definitions for ORS 609.305 to 609.335 and 609.992. As used in ORS 609.305 to 609.335 and 609.992, “exotic animal” means:

(1) Any member of the family Felidae not indigenous to Oregon, except the species Felis catus (domestic cat);

(2) Any nonhuman primate;

(3) Any wolf (Canis lupus);

(4) Any nonwolf member of the family Canidae not indigenous to Oregon, except the species Canis familiaris (domestic dog); and

(5) Any bear, except the black bear (Ursus americanus). [1985 c.437 §2; 1999 c.699 §3]

But still.... remember to check your local laws!

Oregon Laws

Some counties have laws in oregon too. Multnomah doesn't allow you to keep venemous or snakes that exceed 8 feet at any portion of its life (so a baby burm is illegal in multnomah).

you are not allowed to catch and sell or transport native wildlife including reptiles. so if someone offers you cash for our gorgeous red spotted garters, and you ship them, you committed a felony.

other than that the laws are pretty decent.

oh yeah, no water turtles because too many morons let their red ears go in the rivers and they are competing with the western pond turtles. you can keep asian softshells and side necks.
