Payments in full or deposits of half are required to reserve any animals. There is no longer a simple waiting list for these because of the volume of interested parties putting money up front.

Western Hermann's tortoises (Testudo hermanni hermanni)

Continental (mainland) Italian forms, $550-$650 each shipped: The most classic forms of this beautiful and endangered tortoise.

Tuscany, Calabria, Lucania, Umbria & Apulia (Gargano)- These are all very similar locales with no difference in genetics.These are richly colored tortoises (particularly Apulia/Gargano) that range from small to medium in adult size (4-5.5" for males and 5 to 7" for females). Insular (island) Italian forms: Genetically and morphologically distinct from any mainland form of the western Hermann's. Description as a new subspecies is likely on the horizon.

Ragusa, Sicily $650 each shipped- This form is very light in color with some extreme yellow and little black. Also rather small. Learn more HERE.

Mount Etna, Sicily $850 shipped- This is the smallest known form of the western Hermann's tortoise. Tiny at between 3.6 and 5" and very black. Nebrodi, Sicily $650 shipped- This form exhibits a broad spectrum of sizes from medium to large. Read more HERE.

Sardinia, Italy $650 shipped- The true GIANTS of the western subspecies. Amazingly colorful and robust with adults reaching 8" in some cases. Babies are large and thick bodied. Read more HERE.

French Forms

Continental France (Varoise) $850 shipped- A very classic form of the western subspecies and very rare as well. One of the most endangered populations of T. h. hermanni found anywhere. Genetically distinct. Read more HERE. NOT ACCEPTING ANYMORE PREPAID PREORDERS AT THIS TIME.

Insular France (Corsica) $650 shipped- Very similar both genetically and morphologically to Sardinia, Italy & some Sicilian forms. Read more HERE.

Balearic Island & Spanish forms

Mallorca, Balearics $550 each- A very distinct form. The head is always dark with little to no cheek spot and the snout is easily recognizable as blunt. Spanish Mainland $650 each- Spain is home to the most endangered population of the western subspecies, Albera. There are a few populations in these areas which harbor darkly colored, medium to larger sized tortoises. Read more HERE (page under construction).

**REGARDING STUDBOOK NUMBERS & UPDATES: Although we are still a ways off from launching the newest program which will be interactive, numbers will soon be assigned to those waiting on them. Please DO NOT email us concerning numbers. We are well aware of the requests and will get to them in the order they've been received. Yes, certain animals are being rejected to eliminate the chance of hybrids, lack of history and/or bloodline dilution.

This ad is for hatchlings only. We will not part with older animals, especially adults. Some of these animals are literally the only known of their kind in the USA today so price of course reflects this.
