I need Rack advise!

So I've been building up my collection of leopard geckos, and currently they are in miscellaneous cages throughout my "reptile room". I would like however to build a rack for them. I've never made one, and I don't have a lot of money I can dish out for an expensive pre-made one. My budget is about $200 max :/

I've looked online at multiple sites that sell fairly good priced "economy" racks, but they seem a tad sketchy, and almost like the site hasn't been updated in a decade...

Does anyone on here have good suggestions for cheap pre-made rack? Or perhaps a foolproof guide to making a simple cheap rack?

How big of tubs do you want the rack to be? You could try finding a cheap bookshelf/shelving unit on craigslist and turn it into a rack

Currently my adults are housed in 28 qt starilite tubs. Would a bookshelf hold them?

You would have to figure out the dimensions of the tub and find a bookshelf that can hold those dimensions. The next step would be figuring out how to heat it because I don't know how good heat tape and wood mix together.. Unless you can find a melamine bookshelf or something else that would be ok with heat tape

My local Lowes carries "Blue Hawk" brand plastic shelving units. Find on with the shelves the size you want for the tubs you plan to use. You can shorten the supports between the shelves with a hacksaw to make an inexpensive rack. Add your heat tape and a thermostat and you are done.

Note that the rack will be a lid-on-tubs design since the shelves usually aren't solid.
