Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

I understand Thats why I never said it IS wet, just was saying it looked that way in case you were not aware.
Mold can come from too much water/humidity, or from a bad egg.
That could be from the substrate though, I hope they are fertile for ya`.
Gotta run

Jake, I use the Eco Earth as a substrate for my lay boxes, and yes sometimes it will stain the egg shell.

The first pic seems a bit too wet. Just for cautionary purposes I would change it out. Too much water will promote mold growth and destroy the eggs. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
Good luck,

Will I be ok to take the medium out, ring it out again and then replace it or should I set up another box first for the eggs? Will the amount of water in the beding affect the temps its at?

What it means is that that say you measure the weight of your DRY medium, and it's 'X', then you should add 0.5*X weight in water to the medium, this will be the right amount of humidity.
For example:
25grams dry medium + 12.5 grams water
50grams dry medium + 25 grams water...etc.
I use cocofibre for the lay box medium, but then move the eggs onto perlite for incubation.
It's not too late to switch them over, the sooner the better though.
No matter what, you should incubate the eggs, even though they may not be fertile, what's the harm in incubating them? It's not hard to do, so you might as well. You might be surprised. I have females that have laid fertile clutches their first time around.
Cheers,

I would set up another box of medium. I know it may sound over percautious but if mold spores were growing in the wet medium already, then they will continue to grow even after being dried out some.
Start over fresh and see what happens. You might just be surprised.

I squeeze mine dry until the dripping almost stops. Then after everything is set up and if I find it's a little too dry I add water.
Adding water is fast and simple, removing it's a pain in the butt.
