CITIES & Exporting a BP

Sorry guys, I don't know where to put this... but since it's a ball python in question I'll put it here.

One of my best friends lives in Uruguay and LOVES my ball pythons. She can get normals there but there are currently no morph breeders in Uruguay. She wants an albino and I'd love to get her one for Christmas.

Do any of you know how to export an animal overseas? I know there's CITIES to reckon with but I don't know much about exportation laws. I also don't know much about Uruguay's importation laws but I figure if they have normal BPs there, it can't be too bad D=

Do you guys have any thoughts? Anyone with experience shipping internationally?

Yes, it is really expensive and in order for the snake to be imported you will need to have a CITES permit and the assistance of a broker. It is really cost prohibitive to import just one snake...

You don't have to have a "broker"...what you have to have is an export license, or a person with an export license that is willing to deal with it. CITES paperwork, health inspection, an airport that deals with international shipments. I believe the recipient has to have an import permit, as well. It's a pretty big hassle, and a fairly expensive prospect, for a single snake.

You might want to check out the shipping forum - this topic comes up fairly regularly, and there are some very detailed answers by experienced people.
