Constipated Tegu?

I recently brought home a 3 year old b&w argentine tegu. Unfortunately my experience with larger lizards is limited as we have mostly snakes. I'm not sure how often these guys should go to the bathroom - it's been 2 weeks and he's tried but nothing happens. A tiny bit (watery) might come out but that's it. I was told he had an awesome appetite, ate twice a week and not to handle him around feeding time but so far I haven't had a problem at all he's as sweet as could be but doesn't seem to have the appetite described. He's eaten, but not a lot (ground turkey and hard boiled eggs. wouldn't touch bananas or f/t rats). He's also active not sluggish. I thought it could have been the stress from moving but he's settled in now. I've been trying warm soaks nightly and cod liver oil but it doesn't seem to be working. It might just be that I'm over worrying but any advice would be appreciated! He's also in a 75 gallon tank with a ceramic heat emitter and a 48" UVB light if anyone needs to know that.

Dehydration, lack of exercise, incorrect temps, and improper nutrition are often the main causes of constipation. Ensure that he is getting proper hydration through a regular soaking program, a tegu needs as much space as possible to exercise as this will help him physically get his bowel movements to move. Ensure your temps are correct and using UVB lighting if kept indoors, basking site should be roughly 95-110 degrees with an ambient temp of 80 degrees. Lastly improper nutrition can lead to constipation, ive come to find in my experience that feeding too much meat to tegus and monitors with no balance of insect nutrition can lead to constipation as well. Other than that constipation can lead to a medical emergency so trip to the vet before this gets out of hand is recommended as well.
