Specimens for Herpetology Lab
I am working in the herpetology division at my university, and we are investigating the origin of US captive populations of bearded dragons as well as non-morph related phenotypic diversity. We have sampled the wild populations, but we do not have data from any captives.
We are looking for deceased captive specimens, and are willing to negotiate a price to pay for them. We would need to know any morph information about the animal, and ideally we want to sample as much phenotypic diversity as possible (different color morphs, scaleless morphs, etc.). It would also be great to have samples from any individuals for which we know more about origins (ie parental stock in US since 1993, parental stock imported from Germany in 2010, etc.).
If it is not possible to get any deceased specimens, we could possibly make do with blood samples or at worst shed skin samples along with picture vouchers, but due to the much greater difficulty in getting decent genetic data from such tissues it would be far better to have actual specimens.
EDIT: We need the animals to be freshly deceased or have animals sent to us that need to be euthanized, as the tissues need to be preserved as soon as possible post-mortem. We would also accept any animals in general, so long as the seller understands what they will be used for.
