License and Permit Question

If I was going to start a snake removal service to people in Ca., what license or permits would I be required to get. How can I go about finding out? The service would be for me to go to the peoples houses and get the snake and relocate it. Thanks

Contact your state Fish & Game first. They should be able to answer any of the state specific requirements. Different municipals can have different rules as well, so you might have to make contact with each areas municipal/township/borough.

I know i need the "fishing" license for the non-venomous and no license for rattle snakes, but I was curious if I needed some sort of business license since I would be charging a fee for a service. Thanks for the reply.

Ahhhh, I see. Well, I acquired my "business license" (aka State Sales Tax license - PA uses the two terms interchangeably) by going directly to the PA State web site.

Check with your city/town see if a mercantile license is needed as well.

Definitely talk to fish and game.
Release of herps in California, even WC, is illegal without written permission from DF&G.

I do not know if they consider a same day catch and release to fall under that, but I would not be surprised if they did.

Also - snake traps are illegal in CA without a permit (that I think is only available to scientists).
