Lightbulb CURVIERS CAIMEN ADULT ENCLOSURE

I would like some information on the best way to house an adult
curviers caimen. Any help will be welcomed. I need to know
especially about heating the water and handling the animal.
The one I have is about 20 " long. I have him in a aquarim that
is 18" by 36" with a deck & overhead spot light & an underwater
heater set on 80 degrees. I feed him goldfish, minnows and adult
mice. This is my first caimen & I did not buy him on impulse but
just need some help. Before you ask I am 42 years old & still
willing to learn. Thank you all for your help in advance.

Tommy,
The water area should be about 4 times bigger than the animal ..snout to vent.. x 5 times snout to vent and for land it should be 3 s-v x 4 s-v. It may seem large but its benefical.
Also remember Dwarfs are land roamers and love to dig tunnels.
An over head heat lamp is fine, I use red lamps during the winter (though not UV) but those are on durig the day. The heat spot should be about 90 degrees and about 80 degrees on the warm area and 75 on the cool end.. The water Is easily warmed with one of those fish tank heaters and the water should be about 75-80 degrees.. The tank the animal is in now is personaly to small, you should at least have a 60" x 24" enclosure.. Stock tanks are fairly cheap and a nice frame can be built around to make it more pleaseable..
Hoped I helped a 'lil..
