Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Not like those things are a surprise, Steve...and, fwiw, I've been receiving frequent FedEx Service Bulletins regarding conditions, so they are making the effort to advise their customers that there could be delays.

I can see the storm but the DNC causing delays?
Must be a lot of secret service down there blocking off roads to protect Obama. LOL

I know the RNC made Tampa a nightmare...lots of road closures and flight restrictions. Where I work we were affected by the flight restrictions and we are about 30 miles away from Tampa. I didn't ship at all that week, between the weather from the storm and the RNC. It might have been fine, but I was afraid to try.

Yes, they had this same service delay warning for the RNC in Tampa as well.
I think the concern is that the downtown area becomes so crowded and congested with traffic, attendees, functions and events that on-time deliveries to those areas become very difficult.
We actually didn't see a lot of reptile shipping issues during the conventions, but this past week was a BEAR for Memphis FedEx Hub delays. Late arrival refunds (for insured packages) out the wazoo. Probably the most delayed week ever for packages. No DOAs though : )

A little before 9:00 tonight, I got on the 405 freeway just north of Avalon blvd and found everyone honking at a FedEx Express truck over in the left lane. He had his rear loading door all the way up with some straps flapping in the wind. The shifting packages truly looked as if they were going to go flying out any second and for all I know, some already did. The driver didn't seem to understand that all the honking, high beams, and gestures were for him. A semi pulled along side, that driver was more his level and seemed to be shouting at him, but the FedEx employee just looked at him totally baffled. I was baffled myself because I continued to see him in my rearview for miles and the honking and flashing went on behind me past quite a few exits. The driver had to have known at that point, so I don't get why he wasn't pulling over to the right any. I wondered if perhaps it was meant to be open like that, I'm not familiar with their vehicles, but honestly nothing seemed secured down and there didn't even appear to be a lip stopping the boxes from spillling out. I've never seen them just open like that on a freeway, we were doing sixty, and the whole thing seemed incredibly unsafe to me. The dozens of other waving at him must have thought it didn't look right either...
That is not normal is it? I just kept imagining someone's animal in that cargo.
