Introducing Herman

He/she (I don't check pores on the first date) has been passed around, the person I bought Herman from got him a month ago from a 'rescue' (complete with a humongous 20 inch hot rock) as a pet for her teenage daughter who completely ignored him.

He is currently in a 55 gallon tank.

He will have a new larger home soon, I'm debating whether to build or buy.
I have been looking through The Green Iguana site but any habitat ideas pictures or iguana lore is welcome.

From my experience, I'd build. They definitely appreciate as much room as you can give them, and an enclosure large enough for an adult would definitely cost BIG BUCKS.

Oh, and watch out when he gets sexually mature
I remember when I had one I got a call from (my now ex-) wife while I was at work. She was freaking out because Pip was chasing her around the living room. I thought she was just exaggerating, but I learned just how aggressive they get when the hormones start going.

That's funny. (Note to self, put a 2 x 4 behind the sofa).
So I've heard that cages need to be big, but I honestly don't know what that means. I assume Herman will get to be 5 feet or so, but at an estimated 2 years he is only 2 1/2 feet.
I was thinking of something 5 feet by 4 feet tall or so and maybe 30 inches wide. I am refinishing an entertainment center and maybe in the large central area instead of a tv, I can have Herman. I'm sure he is more entertaining.
I don't know if it is the wave of the future but in the classifieds I saw this guy with new modular stackable cages and they are beautiful. He even has custom backgrounds. I'm wondering if a cage maker could just send pieces pre cut for me to put together?
I'm thinking it might be better to wait and buy exactly what I want. I have made stuff, but carpentry is not my thing (and it shows).
