A pair of skinks in the neighborhood.

This lovely couple has been hanging around between the rodent building and the reptile building. Think they are thinking about starting a family of little skinkettes?

Skink id...

They are either Broad-headed Skinks or Five-lined Skinks. The males have the red head in both species. They feed well on insects and the Broad-heads will even feed on smaller lizards. The Broad-heads are much larger than the Five-lined as adults. The Broad-head is also only found in the northern half of Florida.

Aw man I really like skinks. When I used to go to St. Augustine I saw a lot of critters running around but not skinks.
