Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Thread subscriptions
I just did some checking and found that there were 110,000 (!) thread subscriptions on this site that were older than 30 days. Many from members who haven't been here for a while, and many for threads that have been inactive for a very long time. Certainly a bunch with invalid email addresses as well.
I just deleted ALL of them that were older than 30 days. Too much clutter and it needed to be cleaned up.
If anyone has particular threads they want to keep tabs on via subscription, you will have to renew it for that particular thread.
Sorry, there was no other way to do this.

I'm not sure what you mean by deleted, but I still have subscriptions dating back two years. I have notifications turned off on them though. I went through my subscriptions a while back and deleted all but the ones that I needed to keep track of for whatever reason.
With the notifications turned off a reply still shows up in my CP but I assume the server resources aren't taking a hit without the emails being sent out.

thats a good way to do it! Thanks clay, any i dont use for a long time, ill mark to the same thing. i usually delete mine every now and then, just cause i hate getting emails for stuff that no longer pertains to me. *IE answers and replies to stuff ive said*
