Scott,

There are no boas native to the land down under. Just like some of the snakes in Florida that have more than one common name IE Grey Rat, White Oak, Chicken Snake pet shops have been known to get creative when naming animals. It's always important to know what your getting so problems of food source and housing can be avoided. By the way if you can ID the snake there is nothing wrong with leeting the shop know what they have. You'll be doing them and especially the snake a favor.........

Sounds like a simple uneducated mistake to me.

Both Argentina and Australia start with the letter A. Maybe someone just got confused somewhere along the way. I can picture the shop owner saying something like this: " I knew it started with the letter A"..lol

Yes, and so does Antarctica but I heard they don't thrive there...
