Last week we were getting slammed with sever thunderstorms and tornado's. Like many place in the mid-south we sustained damage because of those storms, although not as bad as other places. In a four day stretch of thunderstorms it dumped 4.8 inches of rain on us. This rainfall had flooded many parts of Arkansas and caused the levee in a few place to break that was holding back the Black River. Many towns were flooded because of this, and it caused folks to look for higher ground.
I guess I am fortunate, I don't have to worry about flooding. I live up on top of a ridge, and if it floods here we better be building an Ark, because we are screwed!
We had almost 3 days of no rain and then the sky looses it fool mind. Sunday (yesterday) it dropped 4.2 inches of rain in about a 13 hour period.
We had a funnel cloud in the sky and downed power lines on the road. I had to choose an alternate route into work to get around the power lines. My only choice was a washed out gravel road, since the back way had a big tree down across the road according to the local radio station.
I dumped out the rain gauge at 12:30am this morning and by just a little after 10:30 am it had just a little shy of 3 inches in it. It was 2.7 inches to be correct. It is now 1:05pm as I write this and it's still raining, and the rain gauge is almost at 2.9 inches.
In the last 36 hours or so it has dumped over 7 inches of rain on us and it's still raining.
Enough already!!! I give... uncle... I'm tapping out... you win
Maybe its time to start thinking about building that boat.
