Ceramic Heat Bulbs

Can I use a ceramic heat bulb for the basking spot? Or does it have to be a heat bulb that gives off light as well as heat?

it really depends on how brightly lit your cage is without more light. i personally like to use lights for the basking spot, but many use the CHE. just make sure your temps are correct, and that the cage is brightly lit without that extra light. beardies like lots of light! you may have issues with them basking without the light though, as they are trying to "get some sun", but its worth a shot. CHEs are more for keeping night temps up from my experience, but even then you can let temps drop to about 65 to 70 and not need one.

Hello

Hello,

Technically, yes you can use a ceramic heat emitter for daytime but only if extra heat is needed for basking. I don't really recommend it though. They need bright white light used in conjunction with UVB lighting to protect their eyes & to stimulate good active behavior.
