DAlE i commend you in you honesty ( or what appears that way) im sure this is no picknic to go through and even though i dont know you or anything about you more then whats been said here , i must say from what i have read on the post with you and bill you seem to have a much more professional approach to this then cagle does you have stepped up and admitted to the fact you have a problem and looks as if you are trying to root out the soulotions to it . On the otherhand the oppositions seems to be more worried about his "status" amongst the herp world then doin the right thing and getting things fixed or attempting to.IMHO i couldnt say nor do i think cagle can say hes totally free of this IBD ordeal in his animals , but from the looks of things i honestly think if he sold one and it did end up dying he would simply add that to the list and point it your way seems he still takes no responsibilty in this problem even know he sold a sick snake and then doesnt want to step up and admit it ? was his fault for doing so . after all thats happend its only fair to say its a travisty in the least . i just hope all works out for the both of you and something good can come out of all this mess thats out now.
best of luck in this ordeal

I just got off Kingsnake.com and my kudos go out to Dale Picolla for doing the right thing ! Its about damn time that someone had the balls to stand up like a man make a statement about whats going on instead of pointing fingers like Dale and Bill have both been doing. Dales post was the most honest thing I have seen done by a reptile dealer in a long time and I think he showed a lot of class in what he did and the way he did it. Other people should follow suit ..... you know who I am talking about I am sure !!! Dale by posting that add you proved you are the better man in this situation. My hats off to you. Anyone with an infected animal or even an animal that is suspect needs to do the right thing and not take a chance on further spread of the disease and I am very happy someone is doing just that. Way to go Dale !!!!!

GARY I WISH I WAS AS ELATED AS YOU SOUNDED IN THAT POST. BUT I KNOW THAT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
I HOPE THE OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED FOLLOW SUIT.
THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH IN A MANNER THAT PROMOTES AWARENESS,NOT DENIAL
OR ARROGANCE. ALL OF THE PARTIES INVOLVED KNOW THE RULES, YET PROBABLY WONT GET IT UNTIL IT IS TO LATE.

                                   THANKS D.PICOLLA

Dale...I've got to agree! As much as it might SHOCK GARY!! I AGREE with him 100%!! You deserve ALL SORTS OF KUDOS for what you are doing to make the public aware of this (possibly) disastrous situation! I'm SURE that you don't like this ONE BIT, but, what else can you do?? Been there, done that!! Maybe NOT with IBD...but, I DID have a Boa that had a URI (which I was un-aware of at the time of sale)....the buyer told me about it a couple of days later...I had him send it back to me (for a full refund, obviously), and then I took it OFF the market until it was COMPLETELY healthy again...that took THREE MONTHS!! You might consider that a long time for a URI, but, I wanted to MAKE SURE!! I would HATE to be in YOUR shoes with THIS problem!! I really feel for you! But...at least you have the guts to COME CLEAN about this and take your lumps (so to speak)! I admire people like you! Of course... everyone wants to MAKE money in this business, but, sometimes you have to put the COMMUNITY ahead of your PROFIT!! As far as Bill is concerned...I'm very disappointed in his egotistical, self-righteous attitude...it's a disgrace! To be as well-known and as professional as he protests to be, there should be NO REASON AT ALL for him to act like this! Bill, I'm sorry to be coming down on you so hard...but you brought it on yourself! I'm just lucky you don't have NEW sneakers so you could RUN FASTER!! You ought to take Dales lead and just come clean and this will be OVER! Don't worry....I won't hold my breath! ....Neil

ON MARCH 20, 2002 BILL CAGLE REPORTED A TIGER BOA SOLD ON KINGSNAKE CLASSIFIEDS. I KNOW MOST OF YOU KNOW WHICH ONE I AM TALKING ABOUT.HE HAS BEEN POSTING IT
EVER SINCE HE CAME BACK FORM THE ATLANTA SHOW, IN
EARLY DEC. OF 2001. THIS IS THE SAME ANIMAL HE BRAGGED TO JEFF DRAECEL AND I ABOUT. IT IS THE ONLY TIGER BOA THAT HE HAS BEEN POSTING. AND FOLKS, IT IS THE SAME ANIMAL. I ALMOST BOUGHT IT MYSELF.AT $75.00 IT WAS A BARGAIN. BILL JUST BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH.
THIS BOA IS NOW A POTENTIAL IBD CARRIER. IT WENT HOME WITH THE SAME BOAS I SOLD TO BILL. BILL CLAIMS THE SURINAME I SOLD TO HIM HAD MITES BUT HE DIDNT TELL ME THAT AFTER HIS INSPECTION. IF ANYONE KNOWS THE PERSON WHO BOUGHT THIS ANIMAL FROM CAGLE OR IF THAT
PERSON IS READING THIS AWARENESS POST, ISOLATE THAT
ANIMAL QUICKLY IF YOU HAVENT DONE IT ALREADY.
THIS IS A BIG GOOF ON MY PART; THE MOMENT I WAS AWARE OF THE IBD WITH CHRIS RED, I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE BOI IMMEDIATELY.EVERYTHING HAS BEEN SO FOCUSED ON FINGERPOINTING THAT THE REAL FACTS ARE SLIPPING BY THE WAY SIDE. THIS IS A REAL
SCARY FACT.CAGLE HAS ADMITTED BUYING ANOTHER ANIMAL
AT THE ATLANTA SHOW FROM BEN SIEGAL, BUT HE NEVER SHOWED US THAT ANIMAL. HE NEEDS TO BE STOPPED OR
STOP HIMSELF.I REPEAT ANYONE KNOWING OF THE BUYER OF THIS TIGER BOA, PLEASE INFORM. HE SHOULD BE REFUNDED HIS MONEY.I REALLY DONT KNOW HOW YOU CAN WIGGLE OUT OF THIS ONE BILL. BUT YOU ARE KNOWINGLY SELLING ANIMALS THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE CARRIER OF A
KILLER VIRUS.PEOPLE DOES THAT WARRANT PROSECUTION?

ABCBOAS
We have a friend that had purchased a Guyanan from Sandiego Vivarium. 2 weeks later it was covered in mites. There were no other mites in our friend's home so it was belived that there had been eggs and/or mites in the shipping box or on the boa it's self at the time of arrival. There were likely few to go unoticed. The boa remained appearantly healthy for 2 months or so but had refused to eat. Soon after, the boa began showing signs of neurological disfunction. It and a fecal sample were taken in for testing and the results came back to show internal parasites and the blood parasite. The tests showed no signs of disease but showed a high white blood cell count and signs of long term infection. The animal will be put down this Monday and tissue samples will be sent in for analysis, although our friend and his vet are 99% sure that this is IBD. Our friend has tried repeatedly to contact Sandiego Vivarium with no luck. Appearantly the IBD has spread through Sandiego's collection. If not, he is purchasing animals from the wrong place and reselling them. I read a post on kingsnake.com by Sandiego Vivarium stating that he will no longer be selling boas until all this clears up. I think that's the smart thing to do.

(NOTE- Our friend, the victim in this post, has not given us permission to post his name. We read the complaints here and posted this as a reply.)

Sorry to say this but:

Your "Friend" who felt he was victimized wishes to remain unknown and completely out of the discussion. I find it hard to believe that, if I am going to attack somebody, or perhaps even state the truth about something negative that happened to me, that I would use other people to do so and not post it myself.IF I got ripped off or cheated, you would know who I was by name , trust me.

That does not sound right to me. I am in NO WAY takeing the focus of this off of SD Vivarium, but without a necropsy report it is all heresay. Necropsy reports dont lie, people tend to, unfortunately. I am curious though....as to why your friend wishes to remain anonymous.
Because he doesnt want that "black cloud" hanging over his head affecting his future sales?
(Ask yourself this, if you knew WHO he was, would you buy snakes from him in the near future?)
I think that your "friend" owes it to everyne to be honest and disclose who he is, which further legitimates his claim of this terrible thing haveing happened to him, which is PROVEN only by the necropsy of the SAME snake.

I am saddened that anohter potential case of IBD may have surfaced.I know of 2 others not related to these in anyway. It is sickening to hear about it. But lets understand something about this..Dale has stopped selling snakes(Unlike Cagle) and
the necropsy report will be posted about this SAME boa to verify exactly WHAT he had. Those are 2 concrete things. And in this situation, concrete things are just what we need.

                                      Sincerely,

                                    Fred Albury

Dale, when I talked with you on the phone a while back when this first started you said, all you wanted to do was to make good with Matt and would do so, as far as the money you owe him. As you said to me that day, you didn't want any problems and you knew and agreed to me about having the IBD. spam_The same day I talked with you, that very night you came on here and bashed the hell out of everyone involved with you, and purchased from you. What you have done sense then as far as this disclaimer is fine, but you have yet to shut your mouth about this thing. I look as it this way, and this is the way it is, you had the IBD and that is that. You sold with it, and I am sorry but I don't care what anyone says, that's the truth and you know it. And sure anyone that has bought from you has been upset and has every right to be, it very understandable. Now its time to grow up and get a life and move on. The fighting needs to end, with all. All we can do now is to keep this IBD from going any further, and to have anything that came from Dale tested.
THE END

ok people here it goes again .... I agree with fred on this Dale took the problem by the seat of the pants , stepped up and posted disclaimers . owned up he had IBD and is goin to stop selling animals as FRed said Bill is still selling Screamer!! boas not even letting people know about IBD in his place . Ok so maybe now the thing to do would be for dale to do a "recall"on the boas he sold ? would that be righting a wrong? And trust me w/o the proposed friend that got a poss infected snake i agree again with fred is he trying to protect his name its kinda like i buy something from a store and then it messes up ... then i send a friend in to explain the problem .. who is goin to be beleived a 3rd party ? or 1st person ?if that friend was legit they would have stated who they were and THERE facts about it then wait for a report then VERIFY it or step up and make ammends for it if it proved untrue. Then heres a new way to look at it ... If we are to go on the Honor system which is all we have here i have seen a few people selling boas purchased from Bill CAgle on KS ...should they also do the right thing ? and state that there animals were purchased from a person who had dealing with IBD when it was proven and likewise from anyone selling animals purchased from SDVwho is to say that the animals being sold from either of the parties that purchased snakes from either are not selling them out of fear of IBD ?
