Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

hello all,
spam_ spam_ spam_i am posting to make everyone aware of a possible scammer in our midst. his name is jared and he is out of las vegas. i responded to an add posted on kingsnake on 3/16 pertaining to a spam_female dh/snow boa that said "taking reasonable offers." when i read further into his ad it stated that he had no paperwork but, the genetics were verifiable through rainforest rarities. he also had no pic but stated in the ad that they would be available in a few days. i e-mailed him and told him that i was interested and to send me pics as soon as they were available. i asked him what is the price range he was looking at so that i could base my offer. he told me that he was looking to get a reasonable price out of her and again assured me that she was 100% dh/snow (i also asked him if he would guarantee the genetics himself had i not been able to do so via rainforest and he said yes). he tells me that someone else has expressed interest in her before me and i was next in line (i guess in a faultry attempt to get my money and run). i told him i was still interested and would get back him in a few days (enough time to verify if she was indeed a het). the next day he sent me pics and asks me if i still wanted her because he has a few more e-mails on her. in an instant message i again ask him what exactly is reasonable to him so he says $1000 and i counter offer him $750 to which he instantly caves in. this comes off as fishy to me (since baby hets go for twice that) and i tell him i will get back to him again. he e-mails again and my partner tells him we're going to take it so, immediately he posts it sold to us (on 3/19). meanwhile, i am still trying to get in touch with rainforest (which i later learn has gone out of business) to verify her. during my search for rainforest (a few days later on 3/23), i find that he has reposted her without contacting me. this time the animal is posted for $1000 stating that it was purchased from dembinski reptiles and again that the genetics were verifiable through rainforest. why wouldn't he have told me this to begin with? it could've saved me a lot of time (i guess he didn't realize that joe was still in business). i immediately contact and forward the pics to joe and tell him exactly what was going on. joe goes through his shipping and paypal records and can't find anything on jared. joe e-mailed him and jared proceeds to tell him that he did purchase the animal from him (6 mos. ago). joe checks his records again (going back as far as 12 mos.). interestingly enough, joe hasn't done business with kevin gall (owner of rainforest) in over 3 years and even then it wasn't for boas. since then, he (jared) has removed his posting and has not reposted since. i forgot to mention that when i called his house (and the answering machine picked up) the message said that i had reached the nolan(d) residence so, i am not sure if his last name is neufeld or nolan(d). since he is a kid and there were 2 other people mentioned on the answering machine (a man and a woman, who was reading the message) i am assuming they are his parents. if you do choose to do business with him don't say you weren't forewarned.
i think it is rather strange and outlandish that someone will have the audacity to post an animal for sale without pics or paperwork and guarantee it's genetics to a company that has since gone out of business. although we can not stop all potential theives and herp con artists it is very likely that we can band together and weed out amateurs (which, most are) and diminish their numbers to a distinct few. the herp community is a great group of people that i am proud to be associated with. there have been many obstacles in our way but, together in our many areas of concern (shipping, phobics, media, etc.), we can overcome, educate and inform to become stronger in the future. good luck, thank you and happy herping. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' '>

If I recall correctly. Kenny Gall (rainforest rareities) was selling DH for snow prs for $500 last summer("to generate cash") There has been some question as to whether his Anery breeder is truley an Anery. Casey

Ray,
Thats why its is BEST to deal with only established breeders, and not BROKERS. By established I don't not mean to infer that they have a big name, only that they are known for produceing the particular type of snake you want and can be seen, heard and read on Kingsnake.com in some form(i.e. forum posts, articles, etc.) Glad you didnt get hustled, and that you did your homework.
This BUSINESS brings out the WORST kinds of people:
Brokers: That sell sick snakes, lie to their "valued" customers
and continuously bring new stuff in and out. And
despite deaths and amid complaints, contuinue to
sell to a public whose memory is regrettably both
short and steeped in denial. Snake pimps.
Breeders:That dont practice record keeping and buy from
LOTS of indiscriminate brokers.
"Get Rich Quick People": These have short timers disease, buy a snake or reptile just to turn it an unload it. They dont even have the infrastructure of the broker, not set up for more than 1 sale(Hustle) at a time. Sounds like your guy.
Reptile&Pet Stores: Seedy places that pop up from time to time or have been in business for a long time despite giving their snakes abysymall conditions in which to live. Pass on Viruses, diseases and pathogens to customers. We have one like that here in San Diego, touted to be the "Best Reptile Store in San Dieo" lol As a resident for 20 yrs,I can assure you it is everything BUT that.
Now, not all brokers, reptile shops, small jobbers or breeders are bad. There are some EXCELLENT ones out there , to be sure, but they are in the MINORITY.Public, save yourself some grief, buy directly from the breeder, check out his or her reputation, ask for references(Any good breeder would gladly supply them as good P.R.) and skip the drama.
Sincerely,
Fred Albury
