He is just exceptional....you know I am around...I wanted to know Jeff why they call them leatherbacks..I, myself, don't see a diffrence at this point, but I didn't exactly study the pic, LOL. I know there must be differences since you have wanted one for a while. Take good care B

Awesome! I have a couple of the American smoothies (AC Reptiles lines). Love the way they look!

Beth, the leatherbacks are missing the large "chip" scales. It will become more obvious as they get older. The skin will appear smoother...hence the name "leatherback".

A smoothie is a dragon without the larger chip scales on it's back...you know the ones that are a little bigger then those surrounding them and stick up a little higher. Those scales, as a dragon gets older very often interupt the fine lines in a pattern on a dragons back. A smoothie does not have these or has a reduced number or size so even when adult it shows it's pattern as crisply as when a baby. It is also a much smoother dragon...hence the name...lol. When you mate 2 unrelated smoothies together you will have roughly 1/3 normal, 1/3 smoothie and 1/3 silkie or silk back. Silks have no raised scales at all! Their color and pattern is extremely vivid as a result.
I believe a smoothie is the same as a leather back if I have it correctly.
My other answer was going to be that a smoothie is a blended concoction usually consisting of some sort of fruit...but I thought I would give you a break....this time....lol.
