Don Leydig is still most certainly someone to avoid when dealing with live animals.
Very nice to hear and glad they are in safe capable hands
Yea the vets bills can add up but thats just part of this hobby and the love of the critters we take into our care.
Good luck!

Not trying ro be rude but you definitely should have had a better look at the snakes. I would never have paid for two retics without a physical, visual inspection especially out the back of some vehicle at night

Just wanted to update everyone that Don Leydig has since gotten rid of the name "Poor Boy Pythons" and now has a Facebook page called "Black Dog Reptiles" as of September 8, 2018 and is sadly still active in the reptile hobby. Please read what happened in this post if you are thinking of doing business with Don Leydig. Two beautiful rare reticulated pythons died due to his negligence and who knows how many other animals.

After reading this thread, I don't doubt that for a minute, but can you post the source of that info? I'm not defending Don at all, but the BOI asks for proof of statements made.

Thank you

I am the source. The retics mentioned were the ones from Don Leydig that died shortly after getting them from him. They've been dead for two years. Lol

It's a little confusing because 3 months after the deal you posted this update:

When did the retics die? Were necropsies performed to determine cause of death?

thank you

The retics that "are doing great now and the mites and respiratory infections are long gone at this point", over three and a half months after your transaction with him? You're trying to pin the deaths of snakes that, in your words, fully recovered and were healthy, back on him? Obviously, he was a terrible keeper, but that's not a good look on you...

Something tells me you're going to need to clarify this timeline if you want anyone to take your warning seriously now...
