Predatory Mites

Links to articles that discuss the use of Hypoaspis sp. soil mite that is predatory on the common snake mite Ophionyssus natricis,

This is a very intriguing option. I checked the supplier link provided in the first article and it is active and the company still supplies these mites.

Anyone here ever try this or know anyone that has?

Thumbs up Bugs eating bugs.

I have never heard of that before. It does sound interesting. I have heard of the ivermectin treatment, but heard to only have exotic vets perform that treatment for injection, dosage has to be just right. In the other article I have never heard of using frontline either! It should work, I will have to ask the vet on that one. It is nice to know there are alot of options if ever needed!! Thumbs up for the info!

I've used Hypoaspis miles on scavenger mites--the kind that show up when decaying matter and moist substrate mix. I had an outbreak hit my tarantula colonies. The predatory mites worked like a charm. They could reach all the little niches that the other mites could reach, except they travelled more quickly.

I got my predatory mites from Biconet.com, whom I've ordered from a few times. Excellent service both through e-mail and on the phone.
