Mangroves???

I was thinking about adding a mangrove to the collection maybe.
I really like the attitudes, and find them to be very attractive snakes.

Anyone here have one?
Some more care info?

Thanks.

Wouldn't this post be more appropriatte in the venomous forum since it is not a Boid?

I have had them and now they are more readily available cb.

Mangroves

I've only worked with 2 of these guys. The 2 I worked with were both CBB specimens that belong to a friend of mine and they are pretty nuts. If you have never worked with venomous (even though these guys are rear fanged) I wouldn't reccomend keeping them. They get pretty big and are very agile.

Some people say they have had them that are super cool temperament so I guess it depends on the individual animal..

All the best,
Tony

I had 2 all black ones(melanistic) in the 90's, and yes they were big ol' spitfires. One did chill out, but I kept them as if they were full blown front fanged venomous. I kept them just like my amazon tree boas but in a little larger setup. I did not keep them together though since I was worried about cannibalism. If you are just starting in venomous then start with a cb. juvenile. Unfortunately for me I did not have the internet to tell me my purchase was ill advised in the beginning so I started out with 3 foot plus specimens that were w/c and took a very long time to get acclimated.

I think the biggest problem with mangroves is when your dealing with imports. If your lucky to get CBB then maybe this wont be a problem (im not sure how cbb babies do) but feeding them for the first time can be stressful. Alot of importers who have them are "feeding" their mangroves, essentially by shoving pinks down their throats, however once they are established and eating on their own, they make great display animals.

Ya, their size, coloration, and attitude are all things that make
Me just respect the snake.
I have a couple of people I trust for imports, but I would probably only go for a older snake if I did get a import.

I realize these are not for everybody, but I will take a snake with attitude over a calm snake any day, and I think I can handle one of these guys = ).
Although I'm curious about setups for them.
I think they would use all space provided. And are def arboreal.
Like a 3ft long by 3 foot high? Or higher?

Thanks
