hatchlings outside?

can i house panthers or veiled babys outside? my temps are like 85-90 day and 75-80 night. can they get rain? i can make the cage so it dont take too much rain. like making the top half solid and half screen.?

please anwere.
those temps are not in a cage with plants and constant misting. so it will never get to 90 inside.

Hi Alejandro, those are nice temps for housing chameleons outside! Rain will be good for them too, so I wouldn't build a solid top.

Hi Alejandro,

I'm not sure I understand your question. Whatever sex you decide on, you will have to house every cham separately as chams do not like nor need company. If you plan on breeding in the future, then get a male and a female, but remember to house them separately.

I would not recommend getting a baby cham who is younger than 3 months, if that is what you're asking.

Bye,
Mirty

the guys who is selling me the veiled right now have them for sell. and the guys who is selling the panther need to wait like 2 month so the chams are bigger and he can sell them.
i have like 2 cage right now 1. 48'-28'-28 and the onthere 34-18-18. i am building anothere big cage right now . the think is that i dont know wich specie to buy. ii already have experience with veileds. but i always wanted a panther and when is time for selling the babys. they cost more $ than a veiled.

OK if this is a profit only decision Im not sure how to answer there are alot of factors on that

Veileds lay more eggs than panthers even thought the panthers sellf or less so that depends on your female veiled, some lay 45-50 while one of mine laid 69 Agust 1st and will lay close to or more than that amount very soon if not within the next few days

Panthers incubation is a little more difficult needing dispause

If you are thinking of profits you need to see which one you feel more comfortable incubating and amount of eggs laid and how often

go to adcham.com they have more specifics on clutch size and incubation than I can being to post without taking up an entire page

TYPO sorry, panthers sell for more but lay smaller clutches

Veilds may sell for less but incubation is easier and larger clutches from veileds

Well I had panthers, Tamataves, they mature slower so they must be older to mate and they have less eggs

Veileds mate after 6 months of age and haev more eggs

Its up to you, I LOVE panthers and I hated to sell them but I need a species that would produce more at a younger age

First of all veileds should NOT be bred at 6 months of age. It's far too taxing on the females to produce eggs at that age. There is alot of published information out there on this topic on www.adcham and www.chameleonnews.com. Second, if you are thinking about making money raising chameleons you may want to think about getting leopard geckos or bearded dragons. Chameleons, in the best case are a break even animal at best. In most cases you will spend far more money than you will ever make. Here's a good article on the business of breeding chams. http://www.chameleonnews.com/year200...sts/costs.html
