FINALLY (Live Video)

http://www.ritchiereptiles.homestead.com/Live_Cam.html

I used to have this Live video. But It had to link out to some companies website. www.camarades.com (I think)

but now I found the software and the necessary codes to put it on my own website. That way a bunch of classified ads do not show up. Just the video and some links.

Let me know if it is working for you or not.
Then let me know if you are dial up or high speed connection.
Thank You

What?

There's nothing there but a snake. Everyone knows Live Cam is just internet talk for nekkid women.

Seriously though, it's working fine. It was fairly fluid motion for about 2.5 minutes, then went to changing frames every 5 seconds or so. At about 3.5 minutes it stopped and reloaded and was back to fluid motion again.
I'm on DSL.

How bad is the bandwidth consumption with the streaming video. Most cams usually update every so many seconds to every few minutes which I assume is to limit bandwidth usage.
I've thought about setting up an egg cam but haven't looked into it too deeply yet. In that case streaming video would be a waste since the picture wouldn't change until the eggs started hatching.

I am not sure how bandwidth consumption is.
I guess I should look for a program that tells me how much I am using.

Okay you have high speed DSL.
So should I have it refresh at 2 1/2 minutes?
Or shoud I have it refresh at three minutes?
Or should I just take the auto refresher off?

My goal is to have it run as smooth as possible for a long time.

What about dial up users?.............any comments from you guys?
By the time you get the page to load............does it refresh to quickly? Too late?

Let me know. Thanks

I just watched it until it refreshed at a little over 4 minutes. It ran with good motion until then.
the first time I watched it I was switching windows at the same time doing something else and that may have had something to do with it. Minimizing the window may affect the feed.

The way it looked just now an auto refresh wasn't needed for a high speed connection.
With a dial up, they're only going to get every so many frames anyway. They'll lose more than they get I'd bet, but that has nothing to do with the auto refresher. Dial up is not capable of streaming video without the screen being so small it makes it pointless.

So auto refresher hampered good video viewing for broadband and is useless for dial up.

Hey thanks for the help.

I will take down the autorefresher.

I am still on the look out for better codes and a better video webcam software that happens to be free as well.
