Not sure how you are doing it but here are two ways you can post pictures to Fauna:
From your computer
When posting (in Advanced Mode - Quick Reply doesn't offer the option to post photos) there is the section underneath the message box and Post Icons labelled Additional Options. In there you find the Manage Attachments. Clicking on Manage Attachments brings up the window that you use to upload your photos (or files).
Click the Browse button and search for your photo. Once you've selected it click OK and either browse for another or click the Upload button.
Once your pictures have been uploaded (the message "current attachments" will show up as well as the file(s) you've uploaded). Then click Close Window and submit your post. The photos will show as attachments to your post.
From an internet location
This is the one I suspect you are using, but trying to use a file from your computer...
Clicking the imagine button will ask you to enter the location of the picture. This is for an internet URL. If your picture is hosted on a site somewhere else, just enter the URL of the picture.
You cannot use this option to 'upload' a picture from your computer. This is strickly for posting a picture from a link.
Therefore, posting a picture from an internet site would have you click on the insert image icon, entering the url....eg:
http://www.someplace.com/photoname.jpg and clicking on OK.
This will bring the URL into the message window with the image tags around it:
{img}http://www.someplace.com/photoname.jpg{/img}
where the {} brackets are actually the square ones.
Hope this helps. If not...let me know and I will try to explain a little better!
