Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Are carpets as soft as they look?
My friend has a carpet python, and I've never held her, but she looks super soft and velvety. It reminds me of what a gecko looks like kinda.
So guys, I'm curious, are carpets as soft as they look? Because they look amazing!

A snake is a snake. If his Balls were as soft as they looked then his Carpet probably feels just like his Balls .

Lol. Baby carpets do tend to be snappy. They go for attack rather than hide like balls do. I have a yearling Jungle/jag boy who is pretty good. He hasn't tried to bite, but can be a bit jumpy. I also have a 2-year-old Irian Jaya male who's calm as anything and an adult coastal male who is by far the sweetest, most awesome snake I've ever owned. He "asks" to be brought out by pushing his nose up against the lid and huffing. When I open the cage he comes right out into my arms and slithers all around huffing from excitement. He always makes me laugh, like when he got up on the shower curtain rod and hung out there and when he scaled the banister up my stairs. My neighbors' kids always want to play with him and they pick up his front end and hug him and he's cool about everything. He's my buddy! But on the other hand, I have 3 yearling coastal babies that are tiny as hell, and they are snappy little bastards. I have to wear gloves to handle them at all. But they are slowly calming as they are getting larger, so hopefully in another year they'll be like my jungle/jag and I can hold them without constantly being on the lookout for a strike. Carpets are generally pretty calm as adults, but as with any animal, there are exceptions to the rule.

As to whether or not they are soft, my adult coastal is a coarser scaled snake, but his large scales are smooth, not keeled, so he is fairly soft. My jungle/jag is like velvet, and he looks it. Generally they are soft when young and get rougher with age I think, as they grow so do the individual scales and it is small scales that make a smooth, soft snake. Now white-lipped pythons, those are soft silky, sexy bastards. I have a pair, and they are like holding satin.
