Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

determining sex please read
Hello All,
I was wondering if you can use popping to determine the sex of a two year old ball python. We are pretty sure its a male but want to be positive. I have done it with very young snakes but am not sure if it is safe for older snakes. anyone have some input? Otherwise I am sending my friend and her snake to the vet.

I have heard of people doing it to older snakes, I personally haven't. I probe most of mine, I'm afraid of hurting them by popping, and have always gotten a friend to pop.

Agreed: I know of people that do pop older snakes, but if you aren't skilled at it - don't try it. You are more likely to hurt the snake than discover what you are looking for. Probing is much easier. They are also fairly easy to tell by looking at them... but if you aren't used to it, it will likely leave you unsure.

It seems like
All Ball Pythons are un-cooperative when it comes to that!!! They have strong muscles in that area compared to other snakes i have worked with!!!

Popping is very difficult with older snakes, like everyone else is saying. Get it probed, it's much easier and much safer for the snake (depending on who's doing it, though). Good luck!

Can anyone give me some good directions on probing? I have ball point tipped probes as well, which lowers the risk factor of me damaging the snake... The tips without the little ball are actually rather pointy...

Actually, I would also love to hear, how some of you experienced owners learned how to probe? Did somebody show you hands on, or did you just read about it and then try it?
I've read up on it, and it doesn't sound like it's that easy, even though it seems most snake owners have no problem doing it. I'm just afraid it would be very easy to hurt the snake.

I saw it done multiple times, then had someone explain what they were doing as they showed me how.
