Question A Couple Questions...

Well my mom is giving me a leopard gecko for my 6th grade graduation as a present (she does it every year) and I have a couple questions about the care and food. I bought a book and read some websites but they didn't help much.
First of all... I read that you have to give it reptile vitamins and calcium. I got both powders. The books said I should have a bowl with the calcium for whenever she wants to have it. But should I also put it on the crickets with the vitamin? or just the vitamin.
Another feeding question I have is... can I feed her something other than waxworms, crickets and mealworms? like grasshoppers?
And last question... can I use shedding aid if the leo does not shed good? I usually only use it on my snakes...

You should have a small dish of just plain calcium powder(without vitimain D3) in the cage and dust the food with calcium powder with D3 in it, how often to dust food depends on age of leo. Wax worms are very fattening and addicting so only feed them as a treat. Crickets or mealworms can be fed as a staple diet or part of a varied diet. I wouldnt reccomend feeding grasshoppers, its best not to feed wild caught inverts. I would just reccomend feeding mealworms, their easier then crickets and you can feed them right out of a dish. As for the shedding aid, I wouldnt reccomend it. You should have a humid hide in the cage at all times. You can easily make one, just take a plastic butter tub or other plastic container large enough for the leo to lay in. Then cut a hole in the side large enough for the leo to enter and exit. Then use damp paper towels, keep them moist and switch the old ones out and put new ones in as needed. I think I answered all your questions
