I've Been Bitten By The Bug

Woohoo! So I finally got my first snakes, a pair of 07 quad het normal corns from the bigeasyreptiles.com online contest. I've had my beardie for a bit over a year (he ended up being the runt of the clutch too), and decided that now was as good a time as any to try out some new critters.

So far they've been great. They've both taken their first f/t pinkies like champs and have let me handle them a little. Neither has tried nipping at me, and they were threading through my hands/fingers a bunch when I was holding them. The female (I haven't come up with names yet) sat and chilled for a little while on my hand once she got used to it, the male just seemed like he wanted to explore a bit though and wouldn't sit still

They're so cool. Tiny little buggers, and really soft scales too. Now they've really got me excited to find some more additions! So without further ado, I introduce the newest members of my collection.

Sorry for the slight out of focus on a couple, it's rather difficult holding a big dslr camera and a squirming baby corn...

Hey thats awesome! My friend Jimmy just got his first snake -a baby corn as well. Question, what kind of lighting do you use for these guys? UVB or just florescent? I'm wondering cuz I have a spare 20g with florescent bulbs, I might have to pick up one myself.

PS - you should probably provide a hiding area for him/her

actually, from everything i've read, the uvb is unnecessary for snakes due to them being strictly carnivorous and their calcium coming from the bones of their prey. so for these guys i'm only using incandescent to provide a hot spot during the day (they're wired up with flexwatt on a herpstat nd for belly heat)

although for my beardie i do use a uvb light:

the tanks you see in the pics aren't they're final setups, i was just in the process of wiring the flexwatt and constructing their hides. they're setup in two 10 gallon aquariums with 2 hides each, one on the warm side, one on the cool side that also doubles as a water dish.
