Question 2nd Panther Clutch....??

hey everyone,
i wasnt even aware that my female ambilobe was gravid until about 2 days ago. she laid her first clutch of 18 infertile eggs in june. i wasnt on planning to breed her anytime soon and she still ended up gravid. and i know panthers are able to store sperm cells and i did not put my male and female together. how likely are the eggs fertile and is there anything i should be looking for in the upcoming weeks?? she laid 25 eggs. thanks guys...

Howdy,

Sorry for the late post. Although eggs are not likely to be fertile, if the eggs are still good looking, it is an opportunity to at least get some experience with keeping eggs under the proper conditions. Might as well go for the experience.

More than likely they aren't fertile if the male has never been in with her. If she has previously bred then there is a chance that this is a retained clutch. Has she ever been in with a male? I normally up the supplimentation on my females during and after egg production because the whole process is pretty hard on them. Calcium is important at this time. You should be able to tell if the eggs are fertile in a week or so. Good luck with them.
