Long story short, she developed an abscess from an unknown source. It was removed, and healed, and then just came back with a vengeance a few months later. My vet was in and out of town continuing his education, so I went to a non herp vet this time, and he treated her like he would a mammal. It made things much worse, causing Cellulitis to kick into all the surrounding tissues, internal necrosis, and prolonging the needed surgery.
So over the next 1/2 year or so, My vet still being in and out of town, instructing me via E-mail and tele, we managed to get things under control. On 5-24-07, My vet and the exotics vet from the Zoo met me at the emergency center, and we performed the surgery to remove this thing. And here we are now.
The moral is....Take the time to find a qualified herp vet, and don't cry about the price. A non herp vet could end up costing you a lot more in the long run, or even your herp.
Thanks Cat!
Means a lot. I'm just glad the hectic part is done with and we are returning to normal. Maybe I can return to my normal self now. LOL
