Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Light-heat for Redfoot yearling
Hi Im new to the group..I have a 10 month Refoot temporarily housed in a 20 gal tank with a 60 w daybulb in daytime and off at night. My house has been warm enough at night but with the cooler weather coming I am looking to upgrade my heat-light source. Can anyone tell me what unit or setup is best? I was thinking about one odf the combo lights which hold a tube plus 2 incandescent? If this is good what wattage should I use in my 68-70 degree house. thanks Linda

Hello,
I'm new to this forum so may not be the best advice. I have two setups that seem to work fine. One is a glass bottomed aquarium that is only 5 inches high on the sides. On one end I have a 60 watt basking bulb thats on for 12 hours and under that side a heat mat that I turn on when I shut off the light. That way that end of the tank is always the warmer end. I have put down a thermometer and it seems to be 90 to 95 degrees day or night at that end. (room temp at night is 68)
I also have a larger setup, 2*4 feet that is wood so an under tank heater can not be used. I have two clamp lamps at the ame end. One with a basking bulb and the other with a ceramic heat emitter. Again I turn one on when I turn the other off so one end of the enclosure is always the warm end.
