Genetics and morphs

Hi, im just getting into studying genetics and morphs in animals such as leopard geckos. And i have a question for anyone who can help.First question:How is a morph created? In order to make a solid morph, dont both parent's have to posses the desired trait? If the trait dosent exist, how can it be possesed?Maybe i havent looked into it far enough, but from what ive seen nothing explains this. The only thing i can think of is that line breeding results in solid morphs.Thank you..and if this is in the wrong area, i appologize and please direct me to the correct area. Thanks a lot.
