rosy boa substrate

i just switched from aspen chips to calci sand for my rosy boa. i have heard many conflicting points of view about this, but i also have heard and read conflicting viewpoints for almost all the substrate. i figured the snake lives in sand in the wild. the snake loves it, he is burrowing away right now. i use a UTH, a small one, which doesn't feel hot to the touch, but warm enough. i feed him in a seperate feeding container. what are the experts' opinion on this? by experts i mean you guys/girls. this is my first snake, and i just want to make sure he gets the best. thanks again.

I've used calci-sand before without much trouble, but I prefer aspen chips. It's cheaper, easier to clean & work with and is odor dampening.
While some rosies will inhabit sandier areas, they tend to live in rocky outcroppings, loose leaf litter, agricultural areas, etc. In fact, I think I remember reading somewhere that sand was a barrier to rosies.
Have you seen this review of substrates?
