Identification of a big ant???

Hello,

I took those 2 pictures of large ant ant at the "Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge" near Concord, Massachussets, during a business trip last August 31st...

For an ant, it was big!

I'm pretty sure that it is from the Camponotus genum...
Is it possible to identify the species???

Thank you very much for your help!

Looks to be a carpenter ant, as a matter of fact it is . I don't have my book but I think you are right on the genus

No question it is a carpenter ant genus Camponotus. Off hand not sure of the species though, will do some checking to see what it might be.
