Its just a double rex. The hair falls out in patterns and then grows back. Its random and it may never fall out in that pattern again in the same rat. You cant breed for it, just breed two rex rats together and hope for the best.

They do appear to be some kind of Patchwork Hairless. Breeding to rats with a "Rex" coat will result in a "Double Rex", often a "Hairless." Which can vary quite a bit. Definitely cool ratties, though!

They are NOT double rex....they are true patchwork hairless (yes sometimes double rexes are called patchworks...but they are not true patchworks). A normal rat's coat grows and falls out at about the same rate, so the animal always has a full coat. True patchworks have a coat that moults faster than it regrows....which results in a constantly changing coat MUCH MUCH more variable than that of a double rex. I am lucky enough to have a patchwork male!...I also have 2 non-patchwork offspring of his and plan on breeding all of them. I *think* the gene is recessive.

My female is to young to breed yet. I will not breed her till she is fully grown. I also will not ship...so you would have to come to me or a show I was going to.
