Question Dumb Questions

Okay, I am still trying to learn about beardies. Is there a reason the eggs have to be incubated? Like mom will eat them or something like that?
If you have a female and male in the same room (but not same tank) will the female lay eggs anyway. I was worried about a female getting egg bound. I have heard stories that a lot of the reptiles get egg bound.

Beardeds dig a nest. I provided the females with 8-10 inches of substrate and they would excavate a burrow to the bottom to lay in.
It's very difficult to arrange and maintain the proper incubation climate in the soil, so the eggs are best removed and incubated artificially.

I personally have never had a female that was never bred develop eggs, but it does happen, more frequently with lizards than with snakes.
The most common reason for egg binding is the lack of a suitable nesting site. Normally if an acceptable area is provided, the female will lay just fine.
