what kind of lizard is this?

Hi all,

can anyone please tell me what kind of lizard this is? I guess it’s some kind off whiptail, but I’d like to know the exact name. My dad found it in a container that was shipped from the US. The lizard should be from Morton (or Norton, I don’t know exactly?), Illinois. Also, can u guys tell me what the average temperature is over there? During winter, automn, spring and summer? I’d like to know as quickly as possible, so I can make him a suitable place to live in. He’s a bit larger than 30 cm.

It's some kind of Lacerta, or Podarcis (wall lizard). I'm not too familiar with these guys so maybe someone else can chime in and give you an exact ID. These lizards are native to Europe, but have been introduced to certain areas of the United States.

That lizard certainly isn't native to Illinois. Good luck on finding out what he is.

im pretty sure its a lacerta exigua but im not positive.
