Scolopendra gigantea "black morph"
This is the world's largest centipede! They are capable of 12" lengths with body diameter of 1". Rumors have persisted for years that they grow even larger than 12". They are the true monsters of the rain forest. These incredible beasts are not for minors or beginner's, but for mature, serious, centipede collectors and zoos, nature and science centers and animal theme parks.
The hobby has not seen this species wild-caught since 1995. An adult S. gigantea "white-legged morph" that came in 1999 was grown up to over 12" and sold to National Geographic for $1,000 last year. Some small juveniles of the "white-legged" and "orange-legged" morphs were made available in 2004 from Europe that sold for $350. Those juveniles were grown up since '04 and have become legendary in hobby grape vine. Everybody talks about these giant centipedes. Every serious centipede collector has always wanted one. Now is your chance to obtain the "black morph" of S. gigantea!
