The local reptile society (
www.metroherpsociety.org) had a meeting a few months ago and the speaker was one of the scientists working in Panama to combat chytrid fungus.
They are really having some problems with it. It's spreading very fast and they cant keep up. Basically they are capturing as many infected frogs as possible and trying to treat them before the fungus kills them.
The Houston Zoo is working with the Panama Environmental Agency and they are accepting donations to help setup a new facility to keep and treat the frogs in. If anyones interested in donating here's the link (Bottom of this page).
