feeding mice?

I've been noticing a lot of people lately feeding their dragon mice pinkies... I was under the impression they are not good for them, and have calcium, but not the best source of calcium. Also, that they are only recommended very sparingly with gravid or post gravid females( fatten them).

I am just wondering why people want to feed them to their dragons

Just a FYI, it can and most likely will make your dragons mean. Not always, but most of the time.

Just something to keep in mind if you were thinking about doing this...

How so can it make them mean? I couldn't tell you scientifically but from personal experience it has seemed to make them blood hungry feeder attacking anything that goes into the cage, including hands and water dish's.

It's happened with more than one, but it definitely could be though

As to why, for me it is a cost and simplicity. Please understand I am NOT a beardie breeder. I have had couple for pets and have worked with many at a local pet store. (Which is actually where I first saw pinkies/hoppers fed to dragons) So instead of having 500-1000 crickets, and dealing with them or worms, I would feed lots of greens and a hopper every week or so. We also gave some Phoenix worms during the week but it didn't have to be a crazy amount. My cost to feed went from 20.00 wk or so to about 5.00
