Is This Flirting or Aggressive Behavior?
I have a wonderful, calm, and beautiful female gecko (35g) and an extremely calm and handsome male (20g). They're in separate tanks but I've been taking them out and letting them meet each other for the last few weeks. Both she and he would crawl over each other in a very relaxed way previously. Lately though, the female has been nudging him with her head, and licking him-- very cute but the male generally shows little interest.
I've never mated geckos before-- so I'm unfamiliar with mating behavior. Last night, for the first time, the female nudged him several times and then nipped his leg, hind quarter, and tail several times. Not hard-- not really a bite-- it just seemed she wanted to get his attention.
Is this courting/flirting behavior or aggression? They were both out of their cages-- so it wouldn't seem territorial in nature.
Ideas?
THANKS!
