Dream snakes have arrived! O. t. Ridleyi

I have wanted to work with this species for almost 10 years, since first seeing pictures on my buddy Mike Heinrich’s website oh-so-long-ago. The entire reason I started with corn snakes was to get practice with egg-laying rat snakes in hopes one day I would be able to own and breed Ridleyi; this is now a reality!

Received my Cave Dwelling Rat Snakes this AM:




Introducing Ricky and Lucy! They are CBB proven breeder pair. Colors are a bit off in these photos, just some quick snapshots. Will do a proper photoshoot in a couple weeks once they are settled in.

P.S. I apparently haven’t been keeping up with rat snake classification, what they heck happened to the genera Elaphe? (these were called Elaphe t. Ridleyi)

I know, right? Hell, I was just getting used to calling Black Rats Pantherophis, now they want to call them Scotophis!!

I LOVE cave dwelling rats. Every time I see them at shows me heart bleeds. OOh well. You'll just have to post oodles and oodles of pics now April!
