Why aren't babies afraid of snakes?

Why aren't babies afraid of snakes? We are in a unique position to teach others both old and very young not to fear the creatures we love.

Wow, that was truly amazing. Thanks so much for sharing that with us. I assume that snakes are a "learned fear"?

I wonder what would happen if every time a child got near a toothbrush, someone would scream in fear?

This may come off a little harshly but most people are just stupid about reptiles and spread fear. So yes definitely a learned responded.

No problem. Yes, the main point is we are born fearless, if we develop a fear of anything (snakes, insects) we had to have learned it, most likely from another person who passed their fear to us.

Just like Rich's idea, you could "teach" your child to be scared of a toothbrush just as easily as a snake.
